Moving forward….

Jamie`s style of art was born out of tragedy. After his best friend died nearly 30 years ago Jamie went into a deep depression. He doodled a picture of a sad face, that was the last sad face he ever drew. Jamie made a decision at that point to only create art that makes people smile. All of his art includes big smiling faces, whether it is a cat, a sun, or a person. Jamie was humbled that people chose to hang his art in their homes and look at it every day. Our goal is to keep his images out there in the world. If you would like to use one of Jamie`s designs for your business, fundraiser, or other events please contact us, it is probably more affordable than you think, jamiehayesart@gmail.com. You can also DM us on the Jamie Hayes Gallery facebook page.
Thank you, Julian & Pam

I see the moderators of this haven’t replied. We visited in December, 2019, and were saddened to see the shop on Chartres is now a Fleurty Girl store. I don’t know where you can by Jamie’s work locally. We didn’t see it anywhere. Just didn’t want you to go looking for the old shop.

I don’t know if you saw, but Jamie passed away June 2019. At this point his son is still keeping up the website. We are undecided about a store moving forward.

I’m so sad to learn this. We only met him once but he left such an impression on us.

In our recent move from Connecticut to Delaware I found “The Smokers Club” print that Jamie signed to me. I remember the day he sold it to me @ Mardi Gras 1997. He was sitting at a table personalizing prints for a couple in front of us and they were being really, really particular. Jamie was so kind and gracious but, I could tell they were testing his patience. My friend and I waited what seemed to be an entity when we decided to tell him we were going to get something to drink and asked if we could bring him anything back. He said, “Coffee!” When we returned about 20 minutes later he was alone and surprised we actually came back with a large coffee just for him. While personally not a smoker, I really liked “The Smokers Club”. He told us the story behind it saying it was commissioned by Robin Williams & the original was hung in his home. As I chose the print I wanted Jamie said, “I have something special for you for being so kind and friendly.” He sold me his last Artist Proof #13 of 25. I’ve carried that print with me as our military moves took us around the world. Even to Rancho Palos Verdes from 2005-2007. I had no idea he had lost so much to Katrina and lived so close at the same time. Tonight while speaking to my sister your father’s name was spoken as I asked my sister if her daughter would be up to finally framing it for the game room of the house we are currently building. That’s when I searched for Jamie’s name only to find he has departed this life. I was compelled to share this brief moment in time that I shared with an artist sitting at a table, in a mall, with a big smile, a big heart, and the patience of Jobe. Know that I cherish this memory and his work. I have 3 pieces. One I even sent my parents to buy when they went to New Orleans. Thank you for sharing your husband & father with us. I’m so sorry for your loss but, that in sharing my memory a smile is brought to your face. Much love to you.

I bought 2 of Jamie original ( artist proof 2/25 ) works of the smoking club for my girlfriend, who is now my wife of almost 25 years. I always admired Jamie and his art. We will miss him and his inspiration. I also have a walrus horn he carved in scrimshaw that I treasure. Let me know where his works will be displayed/sold.
    Sincerely,
    KOHL
